Franchise Times: Boston Markets Phasing Out Antibiotics

The Colorado-based chicken chain aims to be 100 percent antibiotic-free.

Looks like the latest franchisors to jump on board the healthy food and ingredient train is Boston Market. According to a recent Franchise Times article, the chicken chain will start serving antibiotic-free rotisserie chickens by the end of Q1 2018. Currently, the company reports more than 75 percent of its chicken are raised without the use of antibiotics, but its goal is for 100 percent to be antibiotic-free as soon as possible.

"We couldn't be more proud to become the first national chicken-specialty chain to reach the goal of serving our customers 100 percent antibiotic-free chicken by early next year," said George Michel, Chief Executive Officer of Boston Market.

The announcement is part of the brand’s new “Quality Guarantee” to move towards more natural, never frozen chickens that are farm raised with not hormones or steroids. The aim is to provide the highest quality food as well as transparency for customers.
