GrubHub Acquires Mobile Food-Ordering Company LevelUp

GrubHub made the announcement while announcing its second quarter numbers.

GrubHub has acquired LevelUp, a Boston-based mobile food-ordering company.

The third-party food delivery service announced the acquisition at the same time it released its second quarter numbers. According to a company press release, GrubHub is offering up $390 million in cash for acquisition.

“LevelUp's leading restaurant-facing technology and the team they have built in Boston will help Grubhub provide the most comprehensive solution for restaurants, powering everything from online demand generation to fulfillment for restaurants,” GrubHub founder and CEO Matt Maloney said in the statement.

Just last month, LevelUp was ranked #1 in the Medium Size Company category on the Boston Business Journal’s Best Places to Work list.

LevelUp founder and CEO Seth Priebatsch addressed the acquisition to restaurants and partners on the company’s website.

“As part of Grubhub, LevelUp will have the resources to double down on our R&D, recruitment and other efforts to ensure that we continue to outperform every other provider in the space and deliver the absolute market-leading experience for you,” Priebatsch wrote.
