People are sweating it.

And that means big growth prospects for Josh York, founder and CEO of GYMGUYZ, the coaches who come to you in bright-red vans with all the equipment you need to get a great workout. The GYMGUYZ vans have 365 pieces of equipment to tackle any workout need and to allow for customized training. The coaches are committed to finding workouts that fit the client’s needs and goals.

York has plans for rapid growth next year. This year brought 39 franchises, and next year he expects to add 50 to 70 locations. He’s ambitious and he has the chops to pull it off.

“People are passionate about what we do," York says. "We provide excellent service. Our most important business model is our 3 Cs: convenient, customized and creative workouts,” he says. “We can help customers anywhere – the home, office, pool, park, hospital, anywhere."

For York, finding the ideal franchisee is of paramount importance. The perfect franchisee must be passionate about being healthy and helping others achieve their wellness and fitness goals, first and foremost.

“We’re in the business of changing people lives and we want others who embody that and have a passion for helping people,” he says.

York also is looking for exceptional people who are driven, focused and motivated.

“This is a hunting business. You need to get out there,” he says. “You have to be a networker. You have to have the right traits for success. You have to jump in there and work hard. You have to be involved. This is not a passive ownership.”

York says that one of the questions he asks himself when meeting potential franchisees is: Would I invite this person over to my house for dinner?

Another bar that potential franchisees have to clear is one that involves sweat. “We put them through a workout and see how they do. People love the business model and a workout shows them that what we do is special.”

But all the hard work pays major dividends with this successful franchise opportunity. “This is a very lucrative business model,” he says.

York says his target markets for new franchises are “everywhere.” At the end of next year, he expects to add units in Canada and England and spread the GYMGUYZ health and wellness around the globe from there.
