This decision comes as a result of franchisee push-back that the deal hurt profits when it was reintroduced. 

&quot;How do we help our franchises with more of a regional value message, so they&#39;re able to (have) a value proposition that fits with their economic model. If you look at California, there&#39;s a very different cost of business than in Arkansas,&quot; said Trevor Haynes.

This will not be the only change for Subway. The brand is also testing new menu options including a a spicier rotisserie-type chicken and guajillo steak. Subway is also testing out paninis at select California locations.
