Toppers Pizza* just signed a deal to bring the brand to the Kansas City market.

Olathe-based Charma Inc. plans to open five locations in the Kansas City area, with the first one slated to open this year. After the first location, Toppers plans to open another store every six to nine months.

“We're in a big expansion mode. We've doubled the size of the company in the last three-and-a-half years…Kansas City is definitely a top market and a target for us," Mark Cairns, Toppers Pizza director of franchise development, told the Kansas City Business Journal.

Toppers makes its dough from scratch daily and uses fresh vegetables and Wisconsin cheese. The brand features unique pizzas like the Mac 'n Cheese Topper featuring real macaroni on top, and the Loaded Tot-zza Topper with tater tots on the pizza. Toppers distinguishes itself with unique menu options that the brand serves until 3:00 a.m. every day.

"There's a ton of great pizza places [in Kansas City], but we feel like there is a void for new and interesting pizza. We think Kansas City is going to be a great market for us,” Scott Iversen, Toppers Pizza vice president of marketing, told the Kansas City Business Journal.

Toppers has around 75 locations in 13 states and plans to open the brands 100th store in 2017.
