Lightbridge Academy®, the early education and child care franchise, has awarded Alexa Kopolow, a recent graduate of Westfield High School in Westfield, New Jersey, a $500 scholarship to help pursue her goal of becoming an educator.

Kopolow was awarded the scholarship due to her academic achievements, leadership and community involvement. Her teachers and guidance counselors at Westfield High School see her as a model student with a strong will to succeed, according to the community publication, Tap Into Westfield.

Lightbridge Academy was founded in 1997 to provide quality early education and child care programs to children aged six weeks through kindergarten. The company currently has more than 120 child care centers either open or in development throughout Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Virginia.

The scholarship program, established in 2014 through the non-profit Lightbridge Foundation®, provides $500 scholarships to graduating high school students who plan to pursue a career in education.

The scholarship arises from Lightbridge Academy’s Circle of Care® philosophy, which endeavors to benefit anyone who touches a Lightbridge Academy center, including children, parents, teachers, owners and the community as a whole.

Lightbridge Foundation provided a total of 34 deserving high school seniors with $500 grants toward their education in 2021.

Lightbridge Academy Marketing Manager Audrey Feci explained to “TapInto Westfield” that Lightbridge Foundation’s scholarship program is designed to “pay our respect and serve as inspiration for the next generation of educational leaders.”

Feci also notes that supporting the future generation of educators has never been more important than it has been amid the COVID-19 pandemic. “It has been a tough year, and those teachers who are in the classroom every day are heroes and are helping children in so many ways,” she said. “We are proud to be able to give back in any way we can by encouraging those who are looking to follow that noble path of education.”

Overall, Feci says the scholarship program is a prime example of how Lightbridge Academy lives its Circle of Care mission and allows franchise owners to give back to the communities they serve.

“Education is what we do, and our teachers are the reason we are able to succeed in our mission,” Feci said. “A love for education starts very young — children always remember that one teacher who made a difference in their life, and we want to financially assist those high school seniors who are hoping to provide that ‘a-ha’ moment for future students.”
