Local Entrepreneur to Bring the First 810 Billiards & Bowling to California as a Business the Whole Family Can Enjoy

Jaswinder Singh had been working in the trucking and logistics industry for over 15 years before deciding it was time to do something different and more meaningful. Looking for a business opportunity that would provide a place for families to come and have fun, Singh came across 810 Billiards & Bowling*, a bowling, dining and entertainment franchise. Now, Singh is opening a location in the Carmichael neighborhood of Sacramento. 

Singh is looking forward to bringing “the whole package” to the area. 810 Billiards & Bowling is a classic bowling alley concept with an upscale twist. In its expansive space, it offers its customers multiple bowling lanes, billiard tables, full service bars, a fun-to-play arcade, classic board games, mini golf and more. The menu boasts soul-satisfying foods, serving lunch and dinner.

1851 Franchise spoke to Singh to learn more about franchising with 810 Billiards & Bowling. 

1851 Franchise: Frame your personal story for us. What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?

Singh: I have been doing trucking/logistics for 16 or 17 years, but for the past couple of years I've been looking for something different. I wanted to open a business that would provide an environment where families could come and have fun. So, I started searching and I stumbled on 810. I made a call and met with the team, and I was very impressed with the business. I had been looking at other businesses, but 810 offered the whole package I was looking for. 

1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you are in it?

Singh: I didn’t know that much about franchising. I looked at a few other franchises, but I didn’t like their concept or the way they ran their business. It seemed like a lot of other brands just wanted to make money for themselves, but that was not the case when I found 810. So that changed my initial perception of franchising. 

1851: What made you pick this brand? What excites you most about this company?

Singh: It just has the whole package. It's not just bowling, billiards or a restaurant —  it's a combination. The whole family can go in and have fun. I’m looking forward to working with the community and throwing a lot of different events where families can come together.

1851: What do you hope to achieve with your business? What are your plans for growth? 

Singh: In the Sacramento area, there’s nothing like 810, so we wanted to bring that to the local community here in Carmichael. And growth wise, we’re just starting by bringing people in and finding my customers — and having fun.

1851: What is the one thing about your story you want us to know?

Singh: I’ve been through tough times with other businesses, but I’m looking forward to growing with 810. 

1851: What advice do you have for other people thinking about becoming a franchise owner?

Singh: I would absolutely recommend working with 810. The whole team is always very helpful over there. They always answer any questions I have. I would recommend it to anybody.
