In an interview with 1851 Franchise, Luy said he was introduced to the franchising space through franchise giant CycleBar, where he worked as both a finance and real estate specialist. Luy eventually met Chris Meibers, and the pair decided to combine their knowledge and expertise to help franchisees and franchisors alike reach their full potential. As such, The Franchise Dept. was born.

“We decided, we’re going to stick to what we know best about franchising, which is building the strong foundation for a franchise system, a franchise program, a well-founded franchise team, and then establish some real structure around how that brand should grow,” said Luy.
