<p style="  font-style: normal; font-variant: normal;  line-height: normal;"><span style=""></span></p><div id="pastingspan1"><span style="">A new proposal in Minneapolis is looking to crack down on the construction of drive-thrus for franchises and other businesses.</span></div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><span style="">One of the main goals of the proposal is to improve safety in areas with higher pedestrian traffic. Minneapolis Council Member Lisa Bender, who co-sponsored the new proposal with Council Member Lisa Goodman said they want businesses to rethink how they design drive-thrus. If approved by the City Council, it would restrict where drive-thrus could be built in the city.</span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style=""><br /></span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style="">&#8220;The streets where a lot of people are walking, on our transit corridors, maybe we don&#8217;t want to have drive-throughs at all,&#8221; Bender <a href="http://www.startribune.com/minneapolis-considers-driving-out-drive-through-businesses/367886711/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=minneapolis-clamping-down-on-drive-thrus-3817" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">told the Star Tribune</a>. &#8220;If we do, we may want to strengthen our controls of them and minimize their impact on people walking.&#8221;</span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style=""><br /></span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style="">The proposal will be worked on over the next few weeks before returning to the City Council.</span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style=""><br /></span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style=""><a href="http://www.startribune.com/minneapolis-considers-driving-out-drive-through-businesses/367886711/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=minneapolis-clamping-down-on-drive-thrus-3817" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Click here to read the full article</a>.</span></div><div style="  font-style: normal; normal;  normal;"></div>
