Local franchisee Al Hauck was recently awarded Buffalo Wings & Rings' Community Service Award at the brand's annual conference.

Al and his wife, Mary, have created an anti-bullying program to educate anyone and everyone on the seriousness of bullying. They launched the #MeanHurts program which will be implemented in schools throughout Minot this fall.

Al Hauck said the program, which includes bringing speakers in to local schools for presentations on bullying, was utilized last school year but will be expanded in the coming months.

He said the goal is to make bullying "not cool."

"Let's just learn to be nice," Hauck added.
