Franchise Times: MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes Bringing Drive-Thru Concept to Its Stores

MOOYAH President Tony Darden discusses why the brand is expanding to include drive-thrus and what this advancement means for the future.

While speaking to Franchise Times, President of MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes Tony Darden announced the drive-thru prototype that the better burger brand hopes will put it at the forefront of the quick-service food industry. Although this was initially a project they had projected for 2022 or beyond, the process was accelerated when MOOYAH franchisees saw the Guests’ preference for the safer drive-thru alternative during the first months of the COVID-19 pandemic. Darden says that the first drive-thru is on track to open this year and will be a growth channel as he hopes to attract experienced quick-service operators who have the same hunger for growth as MOOYAH.

"For us, the overarching goal is, for at least the next four years, we want to double the size of the chain. We want to partner with great franchise owners who are well-capitalized and want to grow aggressively. The first part of that is we wanted to have that option available," said Darden.

Darden stated that while the initial costs will slightly increase to accommodate for the drive-thru, the cost-benefit makes a lot of sense. With MOOYAH’s commitment to serving the highest quality food and its push for speed of service, incremental sales could increase by up to 20%.

Founded in 2007, MOOYAH currently has 85+ locations and has been ranked on FastCasual’s Top 100 Movers and Shakers in 2021.
