In celebration of the recent launch of a Franchise Owner incentive, meant to drive the growth of MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes, the 90-unit “best burger” franchise, Doug Willmarth, the brand’s President, joined Nick Powills, publisher of 1851 Franchise, for a chat about the trajectory of the brand.

“Coming out of the difficult years surrounding COVID, we decided that we wanted to get back to growing again,” Willmarth explained. “We have a drive-thru concept that’s launching at the end of this year with a couple of locations, and we really feel like now is a great time for new Franchise Owners and existing Franchise Owners to expand.”

With this in mind, the franchisor is offering royalties relief to Franchise Owners who sign both a franchise agreement and lease in 2023. While standard royalties for MOOYAH are 6%, qualifying Franchise Owners can receive a reduction, meaning they will pay just 3% in royalties during their first year of operations, 4% the next and 5% the following, before returning to the standard 6% in the fourth year of operations.

For Franchise Owners who sign multi-unit deals and meet opening timing commitments, this benefit can be applied to all restaurants within a multi-unit deal, even if subsequent locations are slated to open later on.

Any MOOYAH restaurant that opens in 2023 will be entirely royalty free for the remainder of the calendar year.

Further, in working to ensure the Franchise Owners start strong and stay strong, MOOYAH is committed to matching funds put toward grand opening marketing through six months.

“We really believe in partnering with our Franchise Owners, so the other part of this is that we’ll match opening marketing spending up to the first $5,000,” Willmarth added.

How MOOYAH Franchise Owners Can Secure Success

Willmarth explained that MOOYAH has started with a simple focus on serving the absolute best burgers, shakes and fries in the world, and it has worked to develop the systems necessary to support its Franchise Owners in doing so.

Though he joined the brand only about a year and a half ago, Willmarth has been a long-term fan. As such, when he was approached to join the team, it only felt natural. Since he joined, he has spent his time building the support systems, corporate teams and other processes necessary to support Franchise Owners through the brand’s imminent growth.

Especially in today’s real estate market, opening a new restaurant in 2023, or even getting a lease signed, may feel intimidating. MOOYAH has the in-house expertise and a strong broker network to support Franchise Owners in analyzing their intended market and selecting prime real estate.

MOOYAH is also relaunching its mobile app, offering a streamlined Guest experience and a restructured rewards program. In conjunction with its new drive-thru models, Guests will soon be able to receive MOOYAH burgers faster than ever without sacrificing taste or convenience.

Looking forward, the franchisor is working to add another 15 Franchise Owners to the network by the end of 2023. With a great team, great support and people who genuinely care about the food and are able to become specialized in their craft, MOOYAH has leveraged its quality and processes to become a standout competitor in an already-saturated market.
