Neighborly Mourns the Sudden Loss of Longtime President and CEO Mike Bidwell

From celebrated franchisee to CEO, Bidwell's nearly four-decade journey with the company that created 19 home service brands leaves an indelible legacy.

Neighborly, the largest global home services company, announced the sudden and unexpected passing of its president and CEO Mike Bidwell. The company conveyed heartfelt condolences to the Bidwell family.

"We will all miss Mike more than words can express, and we are fortunate to have worked for such an amazing leader who was smart, compassionate and insightful,” the company’s leadership team said in a statement. “He put a strong team together — and in times like this, we stand together to honor him by carrying his vision for Neighborly forward."

Bidwell had been a cornerstone of Neighborly for nearly 40 years, starting as a franchisee in 1984 and later taking on various leadership roles, ultimately being appointed president and CEO in January 2014.

Starting his journey with opening a Rainbow International franchise, Bidwell expanded his footprint by initiating multiple franchises and earning accolades such as “Franchisee of the Year” for Rainbow International. His exceptional contributions as a franchisee paved the way for his recruitment to Neighborly's world headquarters in Waco, Texas, where he held prominent positions like chief operating officer (COO) before becoming the CEO.

As a result of Bidwell's untimely departure, Jon Shell, a prior chief financial officer, is now appointed as interim president and CEO of Neighborly. Meanwhile, Mary Thompson will continue her role as COO, overseeing franchise owner relationships, supported by the rest of the Neighborly Corporate Leadership. Additionally, David Brandon, a board member and former CEO of Domino’s Pizza, has been named executive chairman of the board of directors for Neighborly.

The company's management remains dedicated to upholding Neighborly’s Code of Values, which Bidwell embodied throughout his tenure, ensuring that his legacy continues to inspire and drive the firm's vision.
