New Snapchat Feature Will Give Publishers Access to User-Generated Content

The stories will live in the Discover tab of the app, where all users will have access to watch them.

Snapchat has announced that it will allow publishers to create their own “Our Story” highlights.  According to a recent article in Mashable, the new feature will allow users to submit their content to the public-story streams. The publishers' stories will live in the Discover tab of the app, where all users will have access to watch them.

The new feature will allow publishers to harness Snapchat in a new way, by allowing them to showcase user snaps. The social media app hopes that the feature will allow companies to interact more meaningfully with their audience on the platform.

A few of the initial organizations that have access to this feature include NBC, Vice, CNN and Cosmopolitan. If the test proves to be a success, the social media app may open it up to other companies. This will give brands both outside of and inside the franchise industry a new way to build a relationship with fans.

The feature will also serve to help Snapchat bring in a profit, as the platform plans to allow for advertising on these story highlights. Franchise brands looking to target consumers on social media may want to consider taking advantage of this opportunity.
