NRN: McDonald's Will Screen Employees Before They Start Shifts as a 'Precautionary' Measure

Screenings will be administered by managers at both franchise and corporate locations.

Nation’s Restaurant News reported late Wednesday night that McDonald’s will begin screening restaurant employees at both corporate and franchise locations as a “precautionary” measure to reduce the risk of exposure to coronavirus.

Administered by store managers, the screenings will include a number of questions meant to ensure workers are "feeling their best" before each shift.

Questions include:  Are you showing symptoms associated with COVID-19? Have you been diagnosed with COVID-19? Have you had close contact in the past 14 days with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19? Have you been told by a health care provider or public health official that you should self-quarantine due to potential COVID-19 exposure, or are you suspected of having COVID-19?

Any employee who answers “yes” to any of these questions will be sent home and not allowed to return until they’ve received authorization from a medical professional.

Most McDonald's restaurants across the U.S. have remained open for drive-thru, carryout and delivery throughout the coronavirus crisis, but last week the franchise announced it would temporarily suspend its all-day-breakfast offering in an effort to streamline kitchen operations and increase drive-thru efficiency.
