Paris Baguette, the bakery café brand with more than 4,000 units across the globe and nearly 100 in the United States, has signed nearly 112 new U.S. agreements in 2021 and is now moving to have 1,000 open cafés by 2030.

15 of those 2021 agreements are for development in New Jersey, where Paris Baguette U.S. is headquartered. Currently, there are seven Paris Baguette stores in the state with room for 25 to 40 more.

“We have seen substantial growth over the past year in the U.S.,” said Darren Tipton, CEO of the brand. “As we narrow in on our 100th U.S. location, we’re also looking forward to another year of growth opportunities in 2022.”

Why New Jersey is a Lucrative Market for Paris Baguette

Paris Baguette’s labor model allows employees to produce artisanally crafted, delicious baked goods that are worthy of any bakery café. The brand helps employees maintain a healthy work-life balance and keeps customers happy and coming back for more, all of which present a lucrative opportunity for entrepreneurs. The brand’s New Jersey signings include many people that are first-time franchisees with Paris Baguette, including Ruben Zagagi. Although Zagagi has a professional background in finance and IT, he recognized that Paris Baguette has a unique offering and a strong presence.

“Paris Baguette definitely has a good presence already on the East Coast,” he said. “It is a brand that is gaining momentum, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to invest in it.”

Zagagi believes that Paris Baguette’s products offer a less sugar-packed alternative to normal American bakery items. “Compared to more traditional bakeries, we offer a fusion between Asian and Korean, offering cakes and treats that aren’t as sweet as the ones you can get in the regular American bakery,” he said. “That makes us more unique. American bakeries use an overwhelming amount of sugar.”

Paris Baguette’s Plans for Continued Growth

In addition to the New Jersey signings, Paris Baguette has also signed development agreements for markets where it does not have a presence yet, including Indianapolis. By 2030, the brand aims to open 1,000 locations in the U.S.

“We are having one of our best years on record with all of our recent signings,” said Mark Mele, chief development officer of the brand. “We have plans to break into new markets over the next few years, where we know our brand can fulfill a need for that market and its customers.”
