Pizza Hut and Kellogg Collaborate on the Frankenstein’s Monster of Food Mashups

The new Stuffed Cheez-It Pizza is somewhere between an unholy hot pocket and a giant pizza roll.

You know what they say—even bad pizza is still good. Unfortunately, Pizza Hut and Kellogg have made it their mission to prove the opposite. According to an article on CNBC, the brands have conspired to take out lactose-intolerant people once-and-for-all with the new Stuffed Cheez-It Pizza.

Interestingly enough, the four giant cheddar-infused pockets are not a pizza at all. This isn’t one of those controversial debates like whether or not a hot dog is a sandwich. The Cheez-It pillows stuffed with molten cheese much more closely resemble a square calzone, and even come with a side of marinara for dipping.

Pizza Hut has been in the process of a large, system-wide overhaul with a focus on delivery and carryout, but this latest menu item feels more like a cheap gimmick than a truly exciting menu innovation.

While the Stuffed Cheez-It Pizza is only available for a limited time, Pizza Hut and Kellogg are nonetheless allegedly scheming new ideas for 2020, and there is nothing we can do to stop them. Pizza Hut is also in talks with Kellogg about potentially carrying a meat substitute dubbed Incogmeato. “It’s a natural conversation that we’re having with Kellogg’s and with some other suppliers as well,” said Pizza Hut’s chief brand officer Marianne Radley to CNBC.

Admittedly, food collaborations such as this one are not uncommon in the QSR world. The Taco Bell Doritos Locos Taco has been a menu mainstay since its inception (although the brand recently cut two flavors), and Frito-Lay has spent years absolutely hellbent to put Cheetos and Cheetos dust on everything

This is the viral deep-fried quesadilla pizza’s world, and we’re just living in it.
