Pollo Campero, a Central American chicken franchise, opened 11 new locations and entered several new markets across the United States in 2023 in preparation of opening its 100th U.S. location. With a total of 93 units in the U.S. and another 270 worldwide, the franchise has seen a remarkable 19% increase in sales year-over-year, Restaurant News reports, showcasing the strong demand for its flavorful chicken meals.

“We have a fan base that has known us for many years in Central America and has continued to support our growth efforts wherever we go,” said Vice President of Franchise Development Blas Escarcega. “We’re very happy with the legacy customer base, and we also have new consumers that don’t know us but have been very open to coming and trying our food, and they continue to come.”

In addition to opening new restaurants, the franchise is also expanding its menu offerings. In 2023, Pollo Campero launched a breakfast menu at select locations in major cities like Manhattan and Chicago, receiving positive feedback that could lead to a nationwide rollout. This initiative is part of the brand's strategy to differentiate itself in the competitive chicken segment, offering unique items like breakfast empanadas and a newly introduced mac & cheese side dish, which has already become a guest favorite.

Looking ahead, Pollo Campero is focused on continued expansion in 2024, with plans to open at least 25 new restaurants through franchising and corporate development. The franchise aims to cross the 100-unit mark in the U.S. by March and is targeting growth in several states, including TennesseeNorth Carolina and Colorado, among others.

This ambitious growth strategy underscores Pollo Campero's commitment to leveraging its unique flavors and service experience to stand out in the U.S. market, building on its legacy of popularity among Central American consumers and attracting new customers with its distinctive offerings.
