With 107 operational territories and 47 passionate franchisees, Pool Scouts, the pool cleaning maintenance and repair franchise, continues to see swells in demand from both franchisees and customers. Just this year, the system added nine new owners who account for 13 new territories, broke into a new state — Indiana — and saw system-wide revenue growth of 46% year-over-year.

“When we look at the challenges with any business, customer acquisition is always a concern,” said Michael Wagner, president of Pool Scouts. “Yet, even our most mature franchisees are seeing strong customer and revenue growth.”

In 2023, 50% of the customers serviced by Pool Scouts were new to the brand. While more pools were built during the pandemic, which has certainly driven demand for pool services up, Wagner explained that Pool Scouts also leads strong marketing and brand awareness efforts that support local franchisees’ continued growth.

New, More Inclusive Pool Services Expand Pool Scout’s Share of the Wallet

This year saw the addition of PoolCare+, a renovations-focused leg of Pool Scouts that encompasses resurfacing, tiling, coping, deck enhancements and more. Pool Scouts has established partnerships with qualified subcontractors or community partners who are “Scout Approved” and can provide additional services at the level Pool Scouts franchisees and customers expect.

“We have customers who we service 18 or 19 times per year, and they tell us that they now need a robust pool refinishing project or a new pool liner or safety cover,” explained Wagner. “We’ve established great partnerships and are able to sell and refer some of those services to our existing customer base. We have great customer relationships, and we’re continuing to expand the range of services we offer.”

The franchise’s strong customer relationships are proven by its Net Promoter Score of 79, outpacing some of the nation’s most famously customer-focused concepts. Wagner explained that, as it’s “knocking on 80’s door,” the system is looking forward to reaching this next exciting milestone — just another area in which the franchise continues to grow.

Pool Scouts Will Continue to Make Waves in 2024

Looking toward 2024, Wagner said the team plans to continue developing the brand on all fronts.

“Going into 2024, our focus is continuing to drive both share of the wallet expansion, revenue per customer and customer acquisition,” explained Wagner. “All of this comes together to drive territory-level performance for franchisees, driving them to generate profits more quickly.”

Pool Scouts is targeting growth in both brand new markets and those where there is already an established presence. There is room to expand in Texas metropolitan areas; Las Vegas; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Fayetteville, North Carolina; Alabama; the greater Phoenix, Arizona area; and New Orleans.

There is also opportunity to grow in less traditional areas like the Northeast and Midwest. With strong franchisees in Hartford, Connecticut; Detroit; Indianapolis; and the Chicago area, Pool Scouts is growing roots in markets across the country and bringing its cleaning, maintenance and repair services to high-demand markets.
