QSR Magazine: Panda Express to Open 2,000th Location on Thursday

The West Coast brand continues to expand east with its 2,000th location in New York City.

Panda Express is opening its 2,000th location this week in New York City, according to a recent QSR Magazine article. The fast-casual restaurant has come a long way since its start on the West Coast in 1983 where it introduced American Chinese Cuisine and world-famous Original Orange Chicken to the world. The brand has announced its plans to open 20 more stores on the East Coast before the end of 2017, which will add to the 55 units the company has already added this year east of the Mississippi.

“The opening of our 2,000th location is especially exciting for us because the milestone reflects the evolution of the brand over the last 35 years, as well as the success stories of the hard-working people who have made our growth possible,” said Andrew Cherng, co-founder and CEO of Panda Express. “We are fortunate for the opportunity to share our family values and beloved American Chinese menu through our 2,000 restaurants around the globe, and we look forward to celebrating, even more, moments of optimism through our cuisine on the East Coast and beyond.”

The newest location will be located in Manhattan on Broadway and 11th Street where residents of Morning Heights and Columbia University students will dine. The first 2,000 guests on Thursday will receive a commemorative gift for the occasion.
