The franchise industry is a great place for aspiring business owners who don't want to make the leap alone. The industry is fond of the saying that franchising allows you to go into business"for yourself, but not by yourself" - but how do you navigate the franchise waters if you're not sure how it all works? In the April issue of Delta Sky, they broke down the franchise industry for novices looking to potentially test the waters. When it comes to choosing the right franchise, personality and goals beyond just financial success are important.

"We have to recruit people who really want to be successful," Eric Little, chief development officer of senior care brand Right at Home, told Delta Sky. "There has to be a financial component that drives people. But they also have to want to help somebody. They need to be driven and competitive, but genuinely want to help people and create jobs in the community. These are people who realize we only have so many years on this planet and they want their time to matter."

According to the International Franchise Association's "Franchise Business Outlook: 2016", franchises will add 278,000 direct jobs and the number of franchise locations will grow by 13,359 - to nearly 800,000.
