Growing up in New Orleans, Neal Gaudet spent most of his life serving in the medical world as an MRI technician. But after his father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s a few years ago, Gaudet realized the growing demand for at-home care his father required and the subsequent stress it increasingly put on his family.

After doing some research, he came across Right at Home. Not only was it a good fit for his family’s needs, but it also served as a moment of clarity for Gaudet—this was his chance to start his own business and make a difference in people’s lives.

“I thought it was a good fit knowing I had worked in health care. I also realized that just like my own family, countless other families could use the help. After working in a hospital for 12 years, you really come to realize just how much this kind of at-home care is needed,” Gaudet said.

While his official opening date is still up in the air, Gaudet decided to relocate to Alabama to start this new chapter. After earning a bachelor’s degree in Health Administration and a graduate’s degree in Radiology, Gaudet never considered getting into the business of franchising—though the idea of running his own company had always held a certain appeal. But after looking into the ins-and-outs of starting a business from scratch versus having the backup of a brand that had years of experience, choosing a company like Right at Home was a no-brainer.

“The thing that really sold me was considering all of the support that was easily available to me from the brand’s headquarters,” Gaudet said.

Guadet hopes that within the next two years, he can expand his Right at Home business. But what he’s looking forward to most in this new business venture is the flexibility being your own boss allows for.

“As the father of three daughters, this job will allow me to spend time with them in the evening,” Gaudet said. “When I was working long, overnight hours at the hospital, I never had that opportunity. I’m looking forward to this new chapter.”
