Franchisee Spotlight: Trina Slatinsky of Right at Home

Inspired by her grandfather's desire to stay in his own home, Slatinksky made it her mission to offer in-home support to the elderly in her community.

Trina Slatinsky, Sylvania-local, opened Right at Home off of Monroe Street on January 3rd to help the local elderly community with their ability to remain in the comfort of their own home during the aging process.

This cause actually hit close to home as Trina's grandfather died four years ago, and stressed his desire to be able to stay in his own home as he battled cancer. She found it challenging to always be there to take care of him, and wished at the time she had been able to hire someone to be with him in his own home.

She is extremely excited to get involved with Right at Home, a company that stresses that those who aren’t fully capable on their own, can still be allowed the privilege to stay in their home.

Elaborate on your background.

I grew up on a farm and always was hard-working. That’s the way you had to be. I was fortunate enough to know three of my great grandparents. I just lost my grandmother - she was 90. My first job I learned how to work with adults and I knew I wanted to work in the medical field. I worked in Nuclear Medicine for 21 years.

How did you hear about the brand and why did you choose to get involved?

I had an opportunity to change my career and get out of the hospital system I was working in. I wanted to do something a little different and give back more. I had a heart-to-heart with myself, trying to figure out what my favorite part of work is. Taking care of patients definitely landed at the top. The majority of my patients were elderly and I told my husband I was interested in going into home care.

I was very close with my grandpa and he died 4 years ago at 88 years old. He used to talk about how different things are now from what they used to be and he didn’t understand why people don’t respect the elderly anymore. I told him I was going to change that. It was the first time I ever had to use home care and he really enjoyed having someone there with him in his home.

Looking into different in-home care businesses for my own career venture, I called around to all of the different places. Right at Home called me back within 10-15 minutes. I just knew they shared the same mission as me. They are so laid back – everyone gave me a hug! I put everything I have into it, but I knew it was exactly what I was looking for.

What ties do you have with your local community and how do you plan to serve the community with your new business?
