Norman, Oklahoma Right at Home Director of Business Development Charlie Redding joined the Right at Home team after experiencing the difficulties of caring for his own loved ones. He’s now helping a handful of the 60,000 Oklahomans living with Alzheimer’s disease.

“I have had four family members who I have lost who had dementia,” Redding told The Norman Transcript. “At some point, everyone comes into contact with someone who has dealt with or been a caregiver of someone with dementia.”

In order to help those caring for their own loved ones, Right at Home Franchise Owner Joel Herdzina and Redding teamed up to offer virtual dementia tours to those in the community interested in understanding the disease more thoroughly. The process essentially creates feelings of disorientation through altering the senses.

“It’s very frustrating and distracting,” said Redding. “It’s very emotional.”

Many of the virtual dementia tours have taken place at private medical facilities, but they have also offered training at assisted living facilities and the Norman VA support group.
