Right at Home, the in-home care franchise with over 700 territories nationwide, has had an exceptional year, awarding 24 new territories, including ten to existing franchisees who have chosen to expand and another four to those who chose to join the system on the referral of an existing owner. While this in itself is a great health indicator for the system, Right at Home also scooped up nearly a dozen industry awards, celebrating its culture, longevity, ability to withstand recessions, and accessibility to multiple interest groups. With these successes, the system is both celebrating this year’s growth and preparing for another great year in 2024, looking to replicate—or exceed—this year’s development numbers.

“Twenty-four territories sold in 2023 is a pretty significant number based on our tenure,” said Jennifer Chaney, vice president of franchise development at Right at Home. “We’ve been around for over 25 years, and it speaks volumes that existing franchise owners are expanding and referring people to join the system because they just love what they do that much.”

Chaney noted that this plays a crucial role in the Right at Home development process beyond referrals alone. In some franchise systems, a prospective franchisee’s due diligence and potential conversations with existing owners can be problematic. With Right at Home, it’s the exact opposite.

“When our franchisees are going through the validation process, that’s the part that solidifies the deal because they’re so excited about the feedback they receive from existing franchise owners,” she added. “It’s a slam dunk. Our franchise owners really shine through during the validation part of the process, and there’s nothing more meaningful than a franchisee expressing just how in love they are with what they do, the amount of support they receive, and the fact that they would happily go through the entire process again.”

Celebrated Within the System and Beyond

Franchisees’ high praise of the brand is reflected outside the system, too. This year, Right at Home received Franchise Business Review’s Top Franchises - Culture, Top Franchises - Recession-Proof, Top Low-Cost Franchises, Top Franchises, and 10 Years Hall of Fame awards; was ranked on Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500, Top Global Franchises, Top Franchises for Less Than $100,000, Top Brands for Multi-Unit Owners, and Top Franchises for Veterans lists; and secured spot No. 100 on Franchise Times’ Top 400 ranking.

The sheer number of awards and rankings Right at Home received is impressive, but the range is even more so. Right at Home isn’t just recognized for its revenue achievements or longevity or accessible initial investment; industry professionals from multiple publications have celebrated the myriad strengths Right at Home demonstrates, and it paints a very well-rounded picture of the concept.

“We love to share that we not only have earned a lot of these awards, but we earn them year after year pretty consistently,” added Chaney.

Next year, the system plans to do no different, continuing to expand in key markets across the U.S.

Gearing Up for Another Monumental Year

The Right at Home team has already begun developing its strategic plan for 2024 to award another 24 territories and increase awareness through centralized marketing efforts.

Notably, though the brand already has a footprint of over 700 territories, there is still a substantial amount of demand as the aging population grows and the need for support services that empower safe aging in place increases.

“Some prospective franchisees have a perception that all of the ‘good’ territories are taken, but there is a growing need for this business. There is a growing senior population—that is inevitable,” said Chaney. “People are going to continue to age, and we’re really just scratching the surface on the beginning stages of the baby boomer generation’s aging. We have over 300 territories left to sell, and all of those territories have a ton of seniors in them who need care. The opportunity is most definitely still there for people who want to join the Right at Home system.”

As the system continues to expand, Right at Home is especially interested in growing in Sierra Vista-Douglas, Arizona; Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; Johnstown, Pennsylvania; Warner Robins, Georgia; Sebastian-Vero Beach, Florida; Waterloo-Cedar Falls, Iowa; Bangor, Maine; Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Gainesville, Florida; Yuma, Arizona; Amarillo, Texas; and Barnstable Town, Massachusetts.
