At the end of 2011, Right at Home franchise owners Keith Zimmerman and Jim Hutchinson reached out to the local veterans hospital to offer support with a service they knew would provide injured military men and women assistance as they return to civilian life. Thanks to their passionate outreach to help local veterans, Zimmerman and Hutchinson have become a preferred provider for the Lebanon Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

"My philosophy with the VA is, we'll do basically anything they ask us to do," Hutchinson old the York Dispatch.

As a veteran himself, Zimmerman is sensitive to the resistance some military men and women show when presented with the idea of in-home care. The quality reassurance and compassion for the cause led the VA hospital and Right at Home to maintain a relationship, even after budgeting issues ended the 24/7 in-home care pilot program. But Zimmerman said they are committed to helping veterans of all ages.

"We actually have a client right now who is a young woman who was in Afghanistan," he said.

Zimmerman said she is in her early 30s and has trouble raising her arms over her shoulders.
