After Pam Matteen's husband of 32 years died, she had a revelation. Something that keeps her running nonstop.

"I'd work 24/7 if they'd let me," she says. "This is what I live for. This is my life."

After dabbling in different jobs - a waitress, a secretary and a bartender, Matteen discovered why she was born: to work with the elderly and disabled as a Right at Home caregiver.

"It's about the biggest thing that ever happened in my life," says Matteen, the Right at Home company's U.S. Southeast Region Caregiver of the Year. "The only thing bigger was my son."

Care giving is what Matteen lives for. She helps her clients day and night - helping them out of bed and into clean clothes, getting them in and out of the shower.

"Honestly, I don't feel like I'm working," Matteen says. "I love my clients so much it's like being around family."
