The research comes from a report by <a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/tillster-releases-2019-self-service-kiosk-index-300885361.html?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=self-service-kiosk-market-to-reach-over-30-billion-2710538" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" style="text-decoration-line:none" target="_blank">Tillster</a>, which surveyed over 2,000 QSR and fast casual customers.&nbsp;

Brands such as McDonalds, Panera and Sonic have adopted the tech-driven model as a way to save on labor costs, encourage menu browsing and offer shorter lines. Certain <a href="https://www.inc.com/justin-bariso/mcdonalds-made-a-huge-announcement-that-just-may-change-fast-food-forever.html?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=self-service-kiosk-market-to-reach-over-30-billion-2710538" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" style="text-decoration-line:none" target="_blank">pilot tests</a> have shown an increase in foot traffic and sales but the verdict is still out whether the technology will provide a worthwhile value. &nbsp;

Of course, the self-service kiosk technology is relatively new and still being developed. &ldquo;The software that powers the technology will need to be user-friendly and bug-free if consumers are going to adopt the concept,&rdquo; according to the article. &ldquo;The system also has to integrate flawlessly with the restaurant and can&#39;t cause regular order traffic at the counter to get backlogged.&rdquo;

Other companies&nbsp;such as Taco Bell and Subway are currently in the midst of revamping stores to include self-order kiosks, the former aiming to install the technology in all locations by the end of 2019.&nbsp;
