Subway Loses Another C-Suite Member

Subway has been hit with another exit from its leadership team. QSR reports that James Walker, who was serving as Subway’s vice president of North America, resigned January 18.

The article indicates that Walker’s resignation comes less than a year after he was promoted to the position. The chain is currently led by an interim CEO following the June retirement of Suzanne Greco, according to the article. And in December, Joe Tripoldi retired as chief marketing officer, according to the article.

Citing a “source close to Subway headquarters,” The New York Post reported that the chain’s around 25,000 U.S. restaurants showed flat or declining same-store sales last year, according to the article. The report indicates that at the end of 2017, Subway had sales of $10.8 billion and average-unit volumes of $416,000. In 2016, sales were $11.3 billion and average-unit volumes were $422,000, according to the article.
