The Daily Illini: Slim Chickens Grows in Central Illinois

The "better chicken" franchise recently opened in Champaign, Illinois, which is the brand's 41st location.

Slim Chickens opened its first location in 2003, and 13 years later, the "better chicken" franchise just celebrated opening its 41st restaurant and its second in the Central Illinois region. 
 
Director of Operations and Area Manager for Illinois Dave Harris brought Champaign the Slim Chickens name. Harris' second unit, he'd always intended to expand to the area since it's close to the university and in the perfect spot, he told The Daily Illini. 
 
Brian Simowitz, the franchise's vice president of franchise operations, said the brand is always looking to build a greater presence in the Midwest, ever since it opened its first Illinois location in Peoria in 2015.
