Since its inception in 2004, The Junkluggers has been providing an environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional junk removal services for residents and businesses. Founded by Josh Cohen in an effort to deliver safe and green removal services, The Junkluggers aims to donate collected items as frequently as possible, saving landfills space by donating useable items to charities and recycling centers. The Junkluggers very first franchisee, Francis Hill, is a born and bred Long Islander. Prior to joining The Junkluggers, Hill worked for Adikes Foundation, a small charitable foundation focused on environmental conservation. Following, Hill went back to school at Long Island University to receive his master’s in public administration with a focus on non-profit management. As a franchisee with The Junkluggers, Hill’s territory covers  Nassau County, N.Y., and he has fully adopted The Junkluggers’ commitment to eco-friendly practices and community outreach through different volunteer opportunities with several non-profits in the area. Currently, Hill is partnering with Soles4Souls, a global non-profit dedicated to fighting the impact and perpetuation of poverty. The organization collects new and used clothes and shoes from different organizations and partners, and then distributes the items to people in disadvantaged communities. “I was part of The Junkluggers team helping during Hurricane Sandy relief as volunteering is a big part of our company and it is what separates us from competitors. It’s part of our green initiative to bring the least amount to landfills as possible, so community support will always remain important to me both personally and professionally.” Hill will be volunteering his trucks this April to transport donated shoes from a storage facility in Long Island, N.Y. to Edison, N.J., free of charge. This is the second time Hill has worked with Soles4Souls through his franchise. For more information, or to donate, please visit http://soles4souls.org/ or http://www.junkluggers.com/.
