Jeffrey Behr worked for Delaware North - Sportservice for 20 years, starting as an entry-level manager and working his way to district manager. In addition, he worked for the Chicago White Sox as the general manager of food service for three years and even received a World Series ring in 2005. Now, he wants to apply the same hard work and dedication to a new opportunity, opening USA Insulation to serve the local Madison community’s growing need for green energy.

Behr is no stranger to in-home services as he has another franchise, Miracle Method, a surface refinishing business in the Madison community that has been operating for 4 years. With a background in customer service and prior in-home services, he is confident that his business will grow to be successful.

1851: What did you do before franchising?

Jeffrey Behr: I worked in the food service industry for 30 years. My longest position was at Delaware North - Sportservice for 20 years, starting as an entry-level manager and working my way up to a district manager. Another position I had was general manager of food service for the White Sox for three years in 2005, and they gave me their World Series ring that year. I also have another franchise in the home services industry called Miracle Method in Madison, which I have had for 4 years.

1851: How long from the first time you learned about franchising until you inquired on the franchisor’s website?

Behr: It was about five months until I signed with Miracle Method and another three years until I signed with USA Insulation.

1851: How did you perform your research/due diligence?

Behr: I had a franchise consultant with Miracle Method that asked me multiple questions and figured out what business would work best for me. After I knew in-home services were a good fit, I did my own research and validation calls with USA Insulation owners.

1851: How many brands did you look at?

Behr: I looked at one other home insulation company, which I liked, but it did not fit financially with what I was looking for.

1851: What made you say "yes" to USA Insulation?

Behr: I really enjoyed the corporate culture. Meeting the team in person solidified my decision because they all seemed like a family. I also knew I wanted to stay in the home services business because it will always be something people need. We are in a country that is relying more heavily on trying to find green energy opportunities.

1851: What could have scared you away?

Behr: If it did not fit in my price range, then that scared me away.

What makes you stand out as a unique business owner in the local community?

Behr: I am all about my employees and making sure they are treated well because they are the heart and soul of the operation.

What do you hope to achieve with your business? Plans for growth?

Behr: I do not have any hard set plans, but I would entertain the opportunity hopefully within two years. With the economic situation we are in right now, I can’t say anything for certain.
