Tips like checking smoke alarms and checking for leaks under sinks can help prevent major damage to your home and save you money in the long run.

“You want to check any basements or crawl spaces where a hot water heater might be,” says Sacco. “Look for any leaks before you leave because those can cause extensive damage, and nobody wants that.”
