Commonwealth Journal: Jonathan Muse Named Buffalo Wings & Rings Manager of the Year

The franchise owner at the sports restaurant franchise’s Somerset, Kentucky location is recognized by the national brand for leading his team during the global pandemic.

Jonathan Muse, franchise owner at Buffalo Wings & Rings’ Somerset, Kentucky location, has been named the brand’s Manager of the Year. According to a recent article from the Commonwealth Journal, the annual accolade honores  the manager who is fully engaged while following brand guidelines and empowering their team.

Muse was notified of this award during a company-wide Zoom meeting in July. In addition to this award, he also received the Social Content Award because of the Somerset location’s wide organic reach and engagement on Facebook.

“It’s very humbling, honestly,” Muse told the Commonwealth Journal. “I had no idea that I was even being considered. Obviously, I’m super excited about it. To win Manager of the Year out of all the stores in the company is a pretty big honor.”

With 59 locations across the U.S., Muse had significant competition. However, Muse has been on pace to receive this award since opening in Somerset in February of 2019. Though the location didn’t have that January to count for its sales, the store still finished in the brand’s top ten in sales for the year.

2020 has come with its own challenges — Muse made necessary adjustments in labor planning, room layouts, and expenses for masks, gloves and cleaning supplies to continue serving the community safely. Shifting to accommodate more carry-out and curbside pickup orders, Buffalo Wings & Rings in Somerset has been able to successfully serve their customers at a distance.

“Jonathon Muse defines servant leader,” Buffalo Wings & Rings Director of Franchise Development Dan Doulen told the Journal. “He leads by example, holds employees accountable by setting clear expectations and is available to help his team achieve their goals. Jonathon has a constant pulse on COGS (cost of goods sold), labor percentage and is focused on providing a VIP experience to all guests. We are lucky to have him and proud to honor him as Manager of the Year.”

In addition to the  Somerset location, Buffalo Wings & Rings  has Kentucky locations in Danville, London, Elizabethtown, Bardstown, Shelbyville and Union. The brand is looking to grow in the Campbellsville, Bowling Green, Lexington, Louisville and Glasgow markets, seeing Kentucky as one of its most active states for new development.
