iClubs: WORKOUT ANYTIME's National Exposure in Film Highlights Brand's Rapid Growth
The brand is featured in the Hollywood film "Mother's Day" and is hosting a variety of promotions surrounding the release on April 29
WORKOUT ANYTIME has landed a role alongside stars Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis in the upcoming flick 'Mother's Day,' out next week.
In the film, Sudeikis plays a WORKOUT ANYTIME franchisee who meets his love interest Aniston right at the gym. The national exposure will spotlight this already rapidly growing brand.
“It was really a lot of fun,” WORKOUT ANYTIME COO Mark de Gorter told iClubs. “It’s a cute film. It’s a fun, feel-good film. It’s a classic example of art imitating life. When you watch the film, it’s almost like a WORKOUT ANYTIME commercial was inserted into a major motion picture.”
De Gorter has experience with product placement in films from previous positions, so when he heard Open Road Films was shooting a movie starring a character that was a gym owner right there in Atlanta he jumped at the chance to be involved.
“They looked at a number of different clubs, and they felt that ours really showed a fitness club the way they wanted to show one for this particular role,” de Gorter said. “They loved the color scheme. They loved the layout. They liked the look of the checkerboard floor. It just really fit together. The way that the studio incorporated our brand into the film was tremendous.”
The Alpharetta club, near the company's headquarters, shut down for two days for filming.
Now that the movie's due to be released the company is hosting a variety of promotions surrounding the movie's release and of course, Mother's Day.
“Usually tie-ins like this are reserved for the big brands in the automotive, financial services and fast food industries,” de Gorter says. “For us in the fitness industry and for WORKOUT ANYTIME to get something like this, it really represents a fun new frontier for us.”
