Following an E. coli outbreak, the <a href="https://1851franchise.com/cdc-stay-away-from-romaine-lettuce-2708510#mainTrending" style="text-decoration:none" target="_blank">CDC recently warned consumers to avoid romaine lettuce</a>. According to a <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2018/11/26/only-romaine-lettuce-parts-california-should-be-avoided-fda-says-new-warning/?utm_term=.6db2386f4150&utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=you-only-need-to-avoid-romaine-lettuce-from-select-california-locations-2708545" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" style="text-decoration:none" target="_blank">recent article in the Washington Post</a>, the source of the contaminated product has been identified as certain regions of California. The FDA is encouraging consumers to throw out any romaine that may have been grown in the state. 

For the time being, the lettuce is being harvested from winter growing regions found in Arizona, Florida and Mexico. In addition, the product sold in stores will now include a label with information on where it was grown.

&ldquo;At this time, the FDA has no information to suggest any of these growing areas are involved in the current outbreak, which began well before any romaine lettuce from these winter growing locations was available for harvest. There is no recommendation for consumers or retailers to avoid using romaine harvested from these sources,&rdquo; said Scott Gottlieb, FDA commissioner.
