Name: Eric Little Rank: 20 Age: 40 Company: Right at Home* It’s clear why Eric Little is on the zor side—he’s a coach, and pretty damn good at it. In fact, Little’s passion lies with helping franchisees find their footing. He constantly focuses on the path and how to lead a successful drive to the end. Though young, Little’s resume spans multiple development positions at multiple franchise brands. With his depth of experience and knowledge, he continues to evolve his coaching strategy. Don’t put him in the game – he would rather guide it than play it. I GOT INTO FRANCHISING BY: Early in my career, I applied for a position in franchise sales that I clearly wasn’t qualified for with a Fortune 50 oil company. Fortunately, they took mercy on me and gave me the job anyway! I LOVE FRANCHISING: I absolutely love franchising and working strategically with companies and franchisees to grow market share. It’s truly a career choice for me. IN THE FUTURE: I have a real passion for franchising, so I envision my last position being one where I’m involved in some way with educating others about how it works. DO YOUNG PEOPLE HAVE OPPORTUNITY: Yes and no. Some in franchising like to think they have some secret, specialized training that few others can get. The reality is that this industry offers young people an abundance of opportunity and resources to learn and excel. All they have to do is get involved and educate themselves, and try to not to drink too much of the Kool-Aid that those of us who have been around for a while unknowingly serve on occasion. FUTURE FRANCHISORS SHOULD: Whenever you can, try to think “big” and long term - even when cash flow challenges you to think “small” and short term. FUTURE FRANCHISEES SHOULD: Read the E-myth.
