TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, the full-service moving franchise with more than 430 locations nationwide, has taken on multiple notable efforts this year, driving franchise development, supporting an influx of demand for crated moving services, conducting its annual Movers for Moms® campaign and supporting local communities everywhere through the busiest moving season of the year.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK has established itself as a go-to figure in the moving space thanks to its continued emphasis on franchisee support, community involvement and top-notch customer service.

The moving company that moves people forward is always on a mission to help those in need. For the past five years TWO MEN AND A TRUCK has donated 10 cents of every move to Convoy of Hope. The organization's goal is to feed those in need and many of the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK locations have also helped with transporting and distributing supplies to disaster relief sites nationwide throughout the years. In 2022 TWO MEN AND A TRUCK donated more than $47,000 to Convoy of Hope, and since 2018 more than $200,000 has been donated.

Another prime example of such community involvement is the brand’s Movers for Moms campaign, where all U.S. franchises collect donations and then deliver them to women’s and family shelters around the country.

The franchises partner with businesses, schools, and other local organizations in their communities and collect essential care items such as soap, shampoo, deodorant and dental hygiene products. Then moving crews deliver the items to the shelters on or around Mother’s Day.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK is Driving Consumer Offerings, Too

Another notable development is the increase in interest and availability of crated moving services.

“Our crated moving services are called Value Flex. Not only does this model benefit the franchise owner, but it also benefits our customers a lot more,” explained Blake Casey, moving services manager. “The customer saves money by not paying for an entire truck and crew for a cross-country move, but they have to be more flexible with the time frame of the move.”

Casey added that the investment for franchise owners to equip themselves to conduct crated moves is relatively low, and as more locations opt into the service, the network is becoming more and more capable of shipping crated moves almost anywhere in the U.S.

The first full year of the crated moving program was 2020. That year, about 40 locations participated and did a combined $2.1 million in crated move business. This year, there are 125 locations, and they have already completed more than $7.5 million in crated move business.

The total number of jobs booked with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK is also steadily climbing. Franchise owners in Chicago, Minneapolis, Springfield, and Seattle were top performers in the system based on the number of bookings they secured, and Casey attributes this largely to enhanced technology offerings.

“We have given sales representatives the opportunity to provide pricing options on the spot,” he said. “This allows each customer sales representative to offer pricing to their customers rather than having a single person handle pricing evaluations.”

Current and Prospective Franchise Owners are Taking Note of the Business's Potential

With these advancements has come a continued wave of franchise development.

“We’ve signed 18 new franchise agreements and conducted 15 new openings year-to-date,” said Pam Batten, compliance director. “All but two of those agreements are internal expansion deals. There are 16 deals that come from current franchisees obtaining new markets, and they’re all new markets for us.”

Notably, the brand has taken on expansion in California with a deal for two units. As it looks to continue its growth, Batten says TWO MEN AND A TRUCK has identified over 25 more territories available in California, a substantial number of territories available in New York and New Jersey, and a healthy scattering of other territories available throughout the country as the franchise works to solidify and fill out its national presence.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK also continues to be recognized by Franchise Business Review and Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500. In 2023, Franchise Business Review named TWO MEN AND A TRUCK a top 50 franchise for women, top recession proof franchise, top low cost-opportunity for mod markets and a best in category. The moving company was also ranked in Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500 and took first place in the moving/junk-removal services category for the second year in a row.
