After years of looking for potential franchise opportunities - and not finding anything he liked - U.S. Military Veteran Terry Bruns finally found a fit with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®.

Bruns, who served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, was looking for a new opportunity after leaving behind his realty career. The U.S. housing bubble was beginning to affect his career, so he took a step back and became a stay-at-home dad for a few years, hoping he could jump back into the realty game at some point.

When it was clear the housing market wasn’t improving anytime soon, he knew he needed to find a more reliable profession. His top priorities included becoming part of a proven business model, staying in Boise, Idaho, (to not uproot his family) and working with people who shared his values.

“I looked at a ton of franchise opportunities and I wasn’t seeing anything I liked,” says Bruns. “I was rejecting everything because nothing fit me or my values. When I stumbled across TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, they weren’t in our area yet, so I knew it was a good opportunity because it showed promise for growth. The more I looked, the more interested I became. It was the meshing of the values more than anything that hooked me. We believe in exceeding customers’ expectations, helping customers and employees move forward, and we do everything with integrity.”

Bruns has been a franchisee for four and a half years, and he still believes in their values today as much as he when he first joined the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® system.

“I’m just a huge believer in going out there every day and trying to find ways to exceed our customers’ expectations,” says Bruns. “We’re not only moving our customers forward in their lives, but we’re helping to move our employees forward in their lives, too.”

Ed Razo, the general manager of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® ’s corporate Pasadena, Calif., location, served as a marine for just shy of 17 years before transitioning to civilian life. Passionate about the skills and mindset instilled in him during his years of service, he now wants to help other U.S. Veterans transition back into civilian life through TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® ’s new initiative, the Corporate Fellowship Program.

Set to launch in January 2017, the Corporate Fellowship Program will provide U.S. veterans with an opportunity to learn about the corporate world and prepare them for management work for three months, all funded by the military.

“It’s a win-win situation,” says Razo. “It gives  TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® the opportunity to work with a trained individual, and veterans already have the mindset necessary to succeed. It’s ingrained in us to be driven, to be able to manage situations without having to be tasked. There’s no room for excuses, only solutions.”

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® agrees that the mission-oriented and driven nature of veterans translates to success in the corporate world, which is why they’re taking steps to leverage and encourage such skills and mindsets.
