The Phoenix-based healthy dining brand is developing employee-driven strategies to improve performance within the company.
Founded in 2008 by physician Dr. Andrew Wiel, True Food Kitchen follows the mission that food should make you feel better, not worse. In addition to serving nutritious, invigorating meals, True Food Kitchen offers fitness classes and other healthy programming. Currently True Food Kitchen has 25 locations, with rapid growth holding the promise of expansion across the US. As of right now, none of their locations are franchised.
After spending 8 years as the HR director for Shake Shack, newly appointed CPO Peggy Rubenzer is looking to revamp the company’s employee policies. Rubenzer told Nation’s Restaurant News, “I envision this role as leading the softer, human side of restaurant operations,” emphasizing employee training and quality of life. “My vision for the future is to put True Food Kitchen on the top of everyone’s ‘I want to work there’ list.” said Rubenzer.
