Community Impact Newspaper: The Unsung Heroes Keeping Seniors Safe and Happy Throughout COVID-19

Local Seniors Helping Seniors franchise is continuing to care for the most vulnerable in these times of uncertainty.

Shehnaz Kapasi, owner of Seniors Helping Seniors in Montgomery County, was recently interviewed for a Community Impact Newspaper article to discuss the approach that the in-home senior care franchise is taking to ensure the mental health and safety of its senior clients and senior caregivers.

Despite the coronavirus pandemic, caregivers are now having to adjust to as little in-person contact as possible, causing them to come up with more creative ways to make sure their seniors are well cared for while quarantined. However, because not all seniors have access to virtual connections, Kapasi believes that careful in-person visits bring greater joy.

While caregivers at Seniors Helping Seniors are mostly seniors themselves, Kapasi discussed the safety precautions they are making in order to continue caring for their clients. Caregivers are running errands and spending quality time with seniors while following strict social distancing guidelines and wearing masks during in-person visits.

“They are the unsung heroes,” she said. “It’s a very quiet war.”
