Northwest Florida Daily News: Seniors Helping Seniors on Communication, Technology Keys for Taking Care of Senior Citizens
Seniors Helping Seniors aids in the fight against COVID-19 for the most vulnerable group, senior citizens.
According to a recent article in the Northwest Florida Daily News, senior citizens are the most vulnerable and at a high risk to COVID-19, with the fatality rate jumping up to 3-4 percent for elderly citizens who contract coronavirus.
Due to this concern, senior caregiving has become a top priority in most states. In the article, Seniors Helping Seniors franchisee Andy Malivuk emphasized that best practices start with workers in home health care industries being able to share information with each other. For Malivuk, this includes staying on the cutting edge of technology.
“For a long time, we’ve been a proponent in investing in the best technology that’s available to us,” Malivuk said in the article. “And we are seeing almost all of these different entities, from local and state agencies to the government and all the way down to software companies striving for that same thing. I’ve been amazed at how quickly everyone pivots to new policies and procedures, and I credit technology for a lot of that.”
In the article, Andy Malivuk, the owner of Seniors Helping Seniors based out of the Tampa/St. Petersburg area claimed that each day brings new challenges, but that they are adapting in order to serve the senior community safely and efficiently.
“Things are changing so much on a day-to-day basis ... the pendulum will start swinging one day then it goes back the other way, but I think we are all adopting some best practices that are working.”
