He’s what he had to say:1851 Franchise: Frame your personal story for us. What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?Patrick Neeley:&nbsp;I grew up in a small, close-knit town in Indiana in a blue-collar family. My mom worked at a paper factory and then as a bartender, and my dad was in construction. They worked hard and valued family, and that work ethic shaped me. I signed up for the Navy between my junior and senior years of high school, joining as a rescue swimmer and aircrewman. The training was intense, with about a 50% quit or fail rate, but I got through it because quitting wasn’t an option. I spent nine years in the Navy, served in Iraq and Africa, and took on responsibilities that taught me operational and budgeting skills.After the Navy, I moved to Miami and enrolled in Florida International University to get my undergraduate degrees. While I was in school, I met a senior leader at Inceptra and joined their team, where I worked as a support engineer and later moved to sales and operations. Most recently, I was the vice president of sales operations for BHG Financial and Intermex. However, I always had the itch to do something more on my own. When a franchise consultant reached out to me on LinkedIn, I decided to explore franchising seriously, thinking, “What’s the worst that could happen?”1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you are in it?Neeley:&nbsp;Before franchising, I understood the basics, like franchise disclosures and the general setup, thanks to my MBA and entrepreneurial studies. But the details of running a franchise are things I’ve learned along the way, and I enjoy it. Franchising gives you a proven model and brand, which is invaluable because you’re not starting from scratch. For anyone with an entrepreneurial spark who wants to run a business but doesn’t want to reinvent the wheel, franchising is ideal. You have support, processes and brand recognition in place — which makes the journey less daunting and more manageable.1851 Franchise: What made you pick this brand? What are your plans for growth?Neeley:&nbsp;I’ve purchased territories in Hollywood, Aventura and Miami Beach, covering South Florida along the East Coast. The goal is to grow in those areas and continue providing jobs that make a difference. I’m fortunate to have connected with other franchisees in the area, like&nbsp;<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/dianacabassi/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=seniors-helping-seniors-patrick-neeley-2727902" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Diana Cabassi</a>, who has been a mentor. Building a strong team and making an impact in my community are my main goals, and I want this business to be something my family and I can be proud of for years to come.1851 Franchise: What is the one thing about your story you want us to know?Neeley:&nbsp;I want my story to show my daughters that anything is possible. I come from a humble background, but I’ve always believed that you can create your own success. I hope my story encourages others to find their own ceiling and break through it. Life is what we make of it, and our goals are ours to set and achieve.1851 Franchise: What advice do you have for other people thinking about becoming a franchise owner?Neeley:&nbsp;The biggest thing I’ve learned is that “you don’t know what you don’t know.” Franchising provides a strong foundation with a proven model and established brand, so you don’t have to figure everything out on your own. If you’re feeling that itch to do something for yourself, franchising could be the right path. And remember, there’s no harm in exploring — the worst that can happen is you decide it’s not for you.
