Cynthia Landrum has a master&rsquo;s in educational administration and worked for 13 years as a classroom teacher and library media specialist before deciding to open her first Sylvan Learning Center in 2009.

Although Landrum had an extensive background in education, she had never run a business. Therefore, she felt that joining a franchise system&nbsp;with&nbsp;a strong corporate team and franchise support system would help her make the transition to business ownership.

&ldquo;Honestly, I wanted to be able to help kids without the constraints of the public education bureaucracy. Sylvan allows for a personalized learning program that meets students&rsquo; immediate needs and helps them reach their full potential,&rdquo; said Landrum.

Landrum&nbsp;loved Sylvan Learning&#39;s reputation and has grown her business to three locations with plans to continue developing with the brand.
