KSNV: Try This Fun Science Experiment With Sylvan Learning Las Vegas
JoAnn Berg, a franchise owner with Sylvan, shared how students can create a “Blizzard in a Jar” with common household ingredients.
School breaks may be celebrated by most students, but they often present a challenge for parents. In the colder months especially, parents often struggle to find engaging indoor activities to keep their students entertained during their educational downtime.
JoAnn Berg, owner of Sylvan Learning Las Vegas, joined KSNV to share a fun science experiment that can be done with ingredients you may already have at home.
The “Blizzard in a Jar” experiment uses a jar or bottle; water; baby or vegetable oil; glitter, food coloring or other fun additives like beads; and an Alka Seltzer tablet. Once the Alka Seltzer tablet is added, it reacts with the water in the bottle to create gas, circulating the glitter or food coloring through the bottle to imitate a snowy scene.
