<a href="http://sylvanlearning.com/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=sylvan-learning-pittsburgh-celebrates-opening-by-recognizing-its-national-grand-stem-challenge-winning-students-2708354" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Sylvan Learning</a> is officially opening its door back again this month in Upper St. Clair after almost a decade of being absent from the Pittsburgh community. The grand opening is taking place on Saturday, November 10th from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the new center located at 100 Siena Drive, Suite 245. The event will also honor national Grand STEM challenge winners Teddy Beldyk, Madhu Hosini Chava, Michael Berendowski and Jacob Clougherty, who took first place in the brand&rsquo;s 3rd through 5th grade competition during a STEM focused summer camp.

Franchisees Jack and Jeff Shilling will be operating the <a href="http://1851franchise.com/sylvanlearning" target="_blank">Sylvan Learning</a> location in Upper St. Clair, opening their first center to Pittsburgh students and their families this month.

&ldquo;We are really looking forward to becoming a valuable resource in the community where our family lives, and to be able to provide a variety of education programs to students of all ages and academic levels,&rdquo; said Jack.

When the Pittsburgh-natives initially decided to go into business together, they knew opening an education service would be a strong asset to the area. After looking into other potential franchises to open, the Shillings felt that the opportunity to lead Sylvan Learning&rsquo;s development across the Pittsburgh market felt right for them and their business goals. Additionally, Sylvan&rsquo;s corporate team was there to help guide them through the process as they transitioned into becoming franchisees.

&ldquo;After witnessing the rising emphasis on education here in Piitsburgh firsthand as a parent with children in the education system myself, my father and I saw the city as a strong market with continued potential for growth,&rdquo; said Jeff. &ldquo;Officially opening the doors here at the Upper St. Clair center will be a fantastic feeling, and we view this as the first step of making Sylvan known and loved again across Pittsburgh.&rdquo;

To celebrate the new Sylvan opening, the Shillings will be honoring their students who placed as the national 3rd through 5th grade Grand STEM Challenge winners. Teddy Beldyk, Madhu Hosini Chava, Michael Berendowski and Jacob Clougherty attended a week long camp in Pittsburgh that was also held at Sylvan Learning locations across the U.S. to expose children to STEM while allowing teams to design, test, and redesign solutions like real engineers. The event was tied to the brand&rsquo;s launch back into Pittsburgh and announcing its reentry into the market.
