TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Celebrates 17 Years of Movers for Moms®, Aiming for Record-Breaking Donations in 2024

The full-service moving franchise has set a goal to collect 500,000 essential care items this year for women staying in domestic abuse or homeless shelters across the country.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, the national, full-service franchised moving company that Moves People Forward®, has made giving back to the community a tradition since its founding in 1985.

This spring, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK celebrates 17 years of its cherished Movers for Moms campaign, an initiative dedicated to supporting moms in need across the nation. By partnering with local businesses, schools and other organizations, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK franchises are able to collect essential care items, such as soap and shampoo, for women staying in domestic abuse or homeless shelters. Once all donations are collected, move teams pick up and deliver the items on or around Mother’s Day.

In 2023, Movers for Moms experienced its most successful campaign to date, gathering more than  443,000 items and establishing 1,277 collection sites. As the program enters its 10th year as a national campaign, locations throughout the United States are rallying to surpass the previous year's success, setting an ambitious goal to collect 500,000 items for donation to local women’s and family shelters by Mother’s Day.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK of Fargo, North Dakota, for example, partners with its local YMCA each year to organize donation sites, drop-off boxes and deliveries. This year, it’s hosting a Gala Event in May to raise additional funds and awareness for the Movers for Moms campaign with a night of food, drink, music and games.

“TWO MEN AND A TRUCK is all about giving back to the community and this is one of the biggest ways we are able to do that,” said Noelle Dew-Tomhave, sales manager for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK of Fargo. “As a for-profit business, we are proud to provide additional support for a non-profit like the YMCA.”

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK in Twin Cities, Minnesota, partners with around 20 local businesses each year to act as drop-off sites for Movers for Moms donations. This year, the location has announced a unique collaboration with the St. Paul Saints for a Movers for Moms-sponsored baseball game on May 2. Entrance into the game will require a donation to the campaign and the team will be wearing lavender uniforms in support of the cause. The event anticipates an attendance of more than 2,000 people.

“This is an effort we are all very passionate about,” said Sally Flinck, director of marketing and communications for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK of Twin Cities. “The topic of domestic violence is often taboo to talk about, but there are so many people going through struggles that we never know. It's a hidden issue. That is why these shelters are so important — they offer a safe space for women and children to talk about what is going on in their daily lives and find protection. We are incredibly proud to support them in any way we can.”

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK of Dallas, Texas, will be collecting donations for three different shelters this year. The location held a Movers for Moms networking event in February to kick off the campaign and introduce more people to the cause. Now, the Dallas team has a goal to collect 20,000 items, in order to double their donation total from last year.

“Since we cover such a large territory in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, we wanted to ensure we were touching as many counties as possible and having as large of an impact as possible,” said Amanda Del Castillo, regional director of marketing for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK of Dallas“I’ve had friends and family members who were victims of domestic abuse. These initiatives really touch us personally and it is amazing to see the kind of impact we’ve had. There is nothing more satisfying than meeting people who we’ve helped in a real way. We want to help move these mothers forward.”

Movers for Moms is just one of the charitable campaigns that TWO MEN AND A TRUCK participates in on a yearly basis. Others include Movers for Mutts, Movers for Meals, Movers for Military and Truckload of Warmth.

As TWO MEN AND A TRUCK continues to grow across the country, it remains committed to making a significant impact on the lives of those in need. Through the dedication of franchisees, employees and community partners, campaigns like Movers for Moms strive to provide comfort, support, and a bit of joy to those facing challenging times.
