TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, a national, full service franchised moving company with over 405 franchises and more than 3,000 trucks in operation, came together with its franchisees and sister brands under the ServiceMaster umbrella to celebrate one another and grow as an organization.

The conference marked the first time all the brands joined together for the event. Everyone in the system was given a chance to come together and connect face to face while learning from educational sessions, planning for the year ahead and celebrating each other’s accomplishments.

“We really got to recognize not just the business results, but all the good that is going on within TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® and what we’re doing to give back to our communities,” said Randy ShackaTWO MEN AND A TRUCK® President. “The theme was ‘Better Together’ and it was great to have a chance to meet owners from all brands and see what we can do when we work together. We put our collective wisdom and talents together to go after our vision for the future.”

The Benefits for Franchisees

Shacka noted that one of the biggest benefits for franchisees who attended the conference was the opportunity to connect with everyone in one place. Whether franchisees have been with the brand for a year, five years or even 30 years, they benefit from being able to learn from each other.

“Franchisees really get a chance to talk about business, the wins and challenges from the previous year, and what is happening in the future,” he said. “They continued to build relationships. Franchising is about people, so it's a goal for us to get a chance to connect and learn together.”

Franchisees were also able to browse the vendor marketplace and see new innovations, such as equipment and truck information, that they can look forward to in the future.

“They leave the conference with more knowledge, more energy and hopefully more relationships to work from moving forward,” added Shacka.

The Highlights and Awards

One of the most notable highlights from the conference was the recognition of accomplishments. It was there that the National Move Hero award was given out, which goes to someone who not only lives by, but embodies the brand’s core value of care. It was taken home by David Busch from TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Des Moines, Iowa.

Tim Lightner, a multi-unit franchisee from Wisconsin, was awarded the Moving People Forward award, which recognizes those who continue to invest in their employees and communities by providing opportunities to others to grow within the system.

The Founder’s Award was given to the franchises in the United States and Canada that were in operation for less than 14 months as of December 31, 2022, showing exceptional success. The U.S. winner was the Tyler, Texas, location owned by Jay Mellentine and Christine Thomas. In Canada, the award went to Sydney, Nova Scotia, owned by Brian Purchase.

The Humanitarian Award, presented to the franchise in operation for 12 months that performs the highest percentage of charity revenue based on total revenue for the year, went to Kyle Norcutt of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Evansville, Indiana.

Celebrating 30 years in the system and crossing the $14 million mark, the Highest Single Unit Grossing Revenue Award for the twelfth consecutive year was St. Louis, Missouri, including Naim GasanovJohn JudsonTom Schopp, Janet Susuki, Joel Trost, and Steve West. The unit also achieved a 25% growth in revenue over the past year.

Looking Ahead

Franchisees also got to hear from ServiceMaster’s new CEO Greg Weller. “He got on stage to share his perspective 60 days in, but more importantly the vision he has for the brand,” said Shacka. “That was a highlight not just for myself, but for all of the attendees who got to hear his perspective on creating a great culture and environment. It was very uplifting.”

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK has plans for smaller events later this year and will continue to assess what will add the most value to franchisees. Already looking forward to next year’s conference, the brand is using feedback to build new ideas.

“Mary Ellen, our founder, always said, ‘All of us are smarter than one of us,’ and the conference epitomizes that,” said Shacka. “We come together collectively with everyone's wisdom, and we share ideas, thoughts and even concerns — and we get better from it.”

The initial investment for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK ranges from $105,500 to $435,600. To learn more about franchising opportunities with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, visit www.franchise.twomenandatruck.com.
