In addition to its carefully crafted sauces and natural, hormone-free chicken wings, Atomic Wings is beloved by investors due to its franchisee-first model. Owned and run by a team of entrepreneurs who are franchisees themselves, the brand is collaborative, receptive and consistently working to grow in a way that benefits all owners.

As it works to build on its current 25-unit footprint, Atomic Wings plans to forge strong partnerships with area developers in markets nationwide to propel growth while ensuring individual owners continue to have the in-depth support they’ll need to succeed.

“A large part of the area reps role is to serve franchisees within their territory,” said Mike Domico, vice president of franchise development and an area representative in Missouri. “I believe that if you help others get what they want, you’ll get what you want. That logic applies to successful area reps. I look for people who care deeply for other people’s success because, really, that’s their role — to care about their franchisees.”

An Opportunity To Support Explosive Growth

Atomic Wings holds a unique spot in the booming chicken industry. While it has proven its strength and is prepared to grow across the country, it is not yet sold out in key markets like many big-name chicken brands are.

“We are looking for franchisees throughout most of the U.S.,” Domico said. “We’re growing in many states, but I’m very interested in partnering with new area reps for Wisconsin, Michigan and Florida.”

Area reps with Atomic Wings will own at least one location that will serve as the training location for their territory. This way, when they bring new owners into the system, there is a convenient central location for training to take place. The ongoing ownership and operation of this location also ensures that area reps fully understand what franchisees are dealing with. If franchisees are struggling with inflation and staffing challenges in their restaurants, it’s likely that their area rep is feeling those same pressures.

Domico explained that this manifests in caution from the leadership team surrounding any promotions, new menu items and price points. The brand has a high focus on creating ROI for its franchisees.

A Sound Investment With Strong Returns

An investment with Atomic Wings, as a franchisee, unlocks the potential to run a highly successful business. According to the franchise’s website, top-performing restaurants can reach nearly $1.5 million in gross sales.

Because area reps are required to own at least one restaurant, there is a strong opportunity to capture growing revenue. Area reps also share in franchise fees and royalties as they award franchises within their markets, making for a scalable opportunity with potential for strong returns on investment.

Leading the Next Wave of Successful Atomic Wings Owners

While the financial returns are certainly an attractive aspect of the opportunity, this cannot be the sole driver of prospective area reps.

“If someone has a lot of money and wants to become an area rep to build two or three restaurants and represent us in the sale of another 25 in their territory, that’s not going to get them through the door,” Domico said. “It’s a must; you have to be financially stable to become an area rep, but that’s not all. You also have to have those other things — the character, the restaurant and franchising experience, and the passion for serving others.”

Because Atomic Wings is open seven days a week, area reps must be prepared to support their franchisees seven days a week. While there is a lot of freedom and opportunity associated with the ability to build out a market, there are clear responsibilities that come with it, too.

“It’s a lot of fun helping franchisees achieve their version of the American dream, and you’re really making a difference in people’s lives,” Domico said. “But at the same time, you have to be available. If your phone rings on a Saturday afternoon and it’s a franchisee in your market, you need to answer.”

In most cases, an area rep is a franchisee’s first line of support when they have a question or issue, and regardless of when that need arises, area reps should make themselves available to help. Though it can be a demanding position, it is also incredibly fulfilling to play such an instrumental role in growing owners’ upcoming success.
