IDEA Lab Kids Celebrates International Space Day with Engaging Activities for Children
IDEA Lab Kids is celebrating International Space Day, May 5 through 7, with a variety of engaging activities for children across its locations.
IDEA Lab Kids is taking part in International Space Day this weekend, Friday, May 5 through Sunday, May 7, with a number of fun and engaging activities for children. Across a majority of the brand’s 15-plus franchise locations, IDEA Lab Kids will be hosting a variety of events meant to educate and inspire children about space.
With the aim of spreading awareness and educating students about space, IDEA Lab Kids is using its STEAM on Demand® platform to teach hands-on STEM lessons. From solar and lunar eclipses to everything about orbits, children will learn about space in a fun and interactive way. IDEA Lab Kids has also partnered with NASA to provide children with exciting and informative resources related to space exploration.
International Space Day was first suggested in the early 2000s by astronaut John Glenn, who was serving as a Senator for Ohio at the time. Glenn was the third American in space and the first American to orbit the Earth, having circled the planet three times in 1962. His suggestion was to celebrate the incredible advancements made in space exploration and to inspire future generations to continue exploring.
To support the Space Day event, IDEA Lab Kids is providing franchisees with a free STEAM on Demand kit that will support up to 20 children. Kosal Chea owns the IDEA Lab Kids franchise in Ballantyne, North Carolina. Chea is hosting a “Parent’s Night Out” event during Space Day, where parents can take some time off for themselves, while their children learn about space.
At Chea’s event, children will have the opportunity to build and control a Lego robotic rover through an obstacle course and create art projects to learn the difference between gas giants and rocky planets. There will also be a telescope available so children can observe the moon and stars for themselves.
“Our events present a great opportunity for children to learn about space through a hands-on curriculum,” said Chea. “Children have such an innate curiosity about our world, and especially space. Not only does this event teach them about space, but it does so in a fun and engaging way.”
Chea’s Parent’s Night Out event will run from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. For more information on IDEA Lab Kids and the numerous other Space Day events planned, please visit Idealabkids.com.
